The Garden Route encompasses one of South Africa’s most spectacular and popular road trip destinations. Stretching for about 300 kilometers along the south-eastern coast, this diverse region weaves between the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountain ranges. It is famous for its ecologically varied landscape, offering a mix of ancient forests, pristine beaches, tranquil lagoons, and rugged cliffs.
Full 7-day itinerary you can use for Addo Safari Link. Day 1. Addo Elephant National Park safari with a traditional braai lunch and refreshments. Day 2. Transfer to Tsitsikamma National Park, choose activities like the suspension bridge walk, bungee at Bloukrans, zip-lining, or forest hikes. Day 3. Travel to Knysna, visit the Knysna Heads and waterfront with optional lagoon cruise. Day 4. Cross the Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn, explore the Cango Caves, an ostrich farm, and Cango Wildlife Ranch. Day 5. Travel towards Hermanus for some of the world’s best whale watching. Day 6. Continue to Cape Town via the coastal route. Possible stops include Boulders Beach or wine tasting. Day 7. Cape Peninsula tour, including Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, then drop-off.
